On My Back

The night stars above 
on a clear autumn eve 
overpowering my flesh 
while capturing my need 

a trip without moving 
as I wander beyond sight 
with thoughts that are restless 
I challenge the night 

my mind running rampant 
out of control 
the wonder is awesome 
the sights unknown 
 a journey begins 
capturing my soul 

I lie back and wonder 
I lie back and wonder, 
and wonder 
all through the night
